UPDATE: COVID-19 has created a climate of uncertainty and real challenge in the lives of all Australians, and indeed the World. Thousands of people have lost their jobs, or at least had them suspended indefinitely, and students have had their studies disrupted at all levels. Around the world there are people losing their lives to this virus. We are all being asked to isolate in our homes as much as possible. Economies are being impacted here and globally. That is the bad news - we are reminded of this on a daily basis. However, Australians are resilient people - we have proven that over and over again. We are seeing all sorts of positive actions along with the challenges. People are helping neighbours, having online and phone catch-ups like never before, exercising outdoors as much as possible, and many will be thinking about their futures proactively. The Government has also released a website listing employers with multiple jobs available (click here).
The Government has just announced an introduction of incentives for tertiary study coming soon; with particular emphasis on Teaching, Nursing, Health, IT & Science. Check the news! These will be essential fields for rebuilding our economy and shoring up our future. TAFE has also announced they're looking at introducing new course options (in development). This could therefore be a timely opportunity for Australians thinking of changing their career direction moving forward. BUT ... these courses will be cheap yes, but NOT FREE. It is critical therefore that you make good choices that are right for you. A poor choice is always costly in terms of fees, time and your effort if you're not going to be well suited to that career moving forward. Year 12's - your choices will may also be key this year. We're not sure exactly what the application process might look like yet, but it will be vitally important to understand WHAT YOU WANT, not just what you can get! Myself, and many of my careers practitioner colleagues, are continuing our work during this time and are offering our services remotely until we can resume "normal transmission". Reach out for an appointment. My services are listed below. At the very least speak to people who have an awareness of these career options, look online for quality information and resources, and consider what might suit you and what you would like YOUR future to look like. Check the Links page of this website for some resources to help get you started. Best wishes for your journey. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ About Me and My Services...
