Counselling for Career Decision Making
Deciding on career direction and what you want from the world-of-work are essential for achieving career satisfaction (ie "happiness") and resilience in your working life. There is rarely ONE right career or course for any of us (thankfully). We say thankfully because wouldn't it be a less interesting world and life if we had only one career we could do. It would greatly limit our options and our life experiences.
However, there's no doubt whatsoever that wrong choices (of career, job, course, training) can be frustrating, demoralising, very costly and time consuming. The vast array of educational and vocational options leave many people feeling like they are lost in a forest. Help is at hand however.
In career counselling you have the opportunity to learn more about yourself and your:
- interests
- strengths, skills & abilities
- experiences and how they relate to the world-of-work
- learning styles
- personality and communication style
- teamwork preferences
- the type of work environment you are more likely to thrive and grow within
- values (the rewards you’re seeking for a meaningful and resilient work life)
You will then have the information, and support, to identify confident and achievable options and possibilities for yourself in regard to education, training and employment, and to develop an effective plan of action and pathway.
Costs for my consultations are on a "client needs" basis, so you won't be locked into any prepaid packages.
A good career professional will never instruct or tell you on what you are to do with your life. Rather, I will help you to understand, believe and know that you are the one in charge of your future, and guide you on how best to take control and put yourself in the driver's seat to create and continue working toward a positive future.
